Belen Athletic News
I hope this athletics news updated finds everyone doing well. As for our athletic programs, we have been busy and working hard since June 15th. All of our sports teams have been practicing in a safe and organized environment. I really want to compliment all of our coaches and athletes for diligently working to follow all state mandated guidelines while preparing to compete in upcoming seasons!
This update is in reference to academic eligibility. Due to the Covid pandemic bringing school to a close last March, all student athletes entered the 2020-2021 school year with a clean slate. However, as per the NMAA, grades must be checked at the end of the first nine week grading period. With that being mandated the following will determine academic eligibility:
The end of the first nine weeks is October 14th
The designated date of grade checks will be on October 19th
In order to be academically eligible the student-athlete must have a GPA of 2.0 or above, have NO F's, and be passing a minimum of 5 classes
Good luck to all of our teams as we prepare to begin Fall sports on October 5th. GO EAGLES!

Belen Eagle Athletic News
We are required to conduct daily screening of our student athletes prior to practices or workouts. This is a state mandated requirement. The information is used for contact tracing in an unfortunate case we have a positive Covid-19 individual. We have been having our coaches document this on paper forms in which they are required to turn in daily. We are going to attempt to do our daily screenings with the use of the "Eagle Intelligent Health" app. This application is being used by other school districts throughout the state and was referred to us by the New Mexico Activities Association (NMAA) and Public Education Department (PED).
To use this app: The participant needs to download the Eagle intelligent Health app on to their device.
If you do not feel comfortable downloading the app or do not have a phone; either you or your coach can do the following:
*Go to checkin.drowl.com
*click on Parents, Teachers & Individuals
*Facility: Belen High School Athletics
*Type in requested information: First name, Last name, email, phone number
*Answer screening questions.
We are just a couple weeks away from the beginning of the official seasons for Cross Country, Fall Golf and Volleyball. Most other sports are conducting off season practices. Our Coaches and Athletes are doing a great job of following all state guidelines and restrictions while preparing our programs to compete!
Thank You and GO EAGLES!

I hope this athletics news update finds everyone doing well. As we prepare for the upcoming school year we have remained positive and hopeful that our student-athletes will have competition. I would like to begin by complimenting our coaches and athletes for doing a great job with summer workouts. We have had several of our programs working very hard since June 15th. All of our coaches were diligent in following state mandated guidelines while preparing our athletes for the upcoming seasons. All of our sports specific practices were ran in a safe and organized environment. A few of our programs that were considered to be in a high risk category with Covid-19 were not able to have a sports specific practice. However, those coaches came together and were able to conduct strength training and conditioning workouts.
Here are a few reminders with the school year right around the corner:
Belen Consolidated Schools will have a dead period of no practices beginning on Monday August 24th and running through September 4th. The purpose of this is to allow our students and staff a transition period into the school year.
Off season practices will resume on Tuesday September 8th (the day after Labor Day).
The following programs are scheduled to begin their official season on Monday October 5th: High School and Middle School Volleyball, Cross Country, and Fall Golf. Schedules are posted on the website.
All other sports are scheduled to begin second semester.
As we are all aware, we are in a time of constant change and some information is subject to change. We will do our best to communicate any changes that occur. GO EAGLES!
