Hello La Merced Parents and Families! Please see the November newsletter. There are just 2 weeks til Thanksgiving Break!
Halloween is being celebrated tomorrow, Friday Oct. 28th at La Merced Elementary. Students may wear their Halloween costume to school. Please see that there are no weapons and that costumes are not gory. Students may have face paint and masks but must remove their mask while in the building.
We will start the day with our Parade of Costumes and Contest at 9am. Each homeroom will parade about the campus with a stop in the cafeteria for the costume contest/judging. Each homeroom has a scheduled time for a hayride and a visit through our Pumpkin Patch. Each student will pick their own pumpkin.
Parents/families are welcome to attend our morning's festivities but will not be allowed on the hayride. We are limiting our guests to just 2 family members per student. All visitors will need to check in at the office and be listed on the student's demographics.
Parking will be limited to the dirt lot on the west side of the school and along the fence line. Please do not park in the visitor parking lot.

Starting tomorrow students in grades three through six will begin testing on IMSSA. This assessment is in the subjects of reading, language usage, and math. This test gives us information on your childâs progress on grade level standards. Testing will be completed over the next 2 weeks. It is important for your child to be present and on time everyday so that they can test with their regular class. The attached web link provides further information on this assessment. If you have any questions please call the school.
Good afternoon La Merced families: tomorrow, Tuesday August 30th, we will be having an evacuation drill. This is a practice drill in the event that we would be experiencing a wildfire and/or the need to leave the campus. All students will board buses and be transported to the transportation center. We will start approximately at 9:30 am and expect that it shouldn't take more than one hour. Once all students and staff are accounted for at the transportation department the buses will return students to school. If you have any questions please call the school.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, is early release with dismissal at 12:30 pm. Parents who will be picking up their child please follow the directions in the pick up lane, so we can keep the traffic moving. Please drive all the way forward in order to get cars through as quickly and safe as possible.
The lockdown for La Merced Elementary has been lifted. There are no further concerns.
